Slowmango are a six piece band from South Australia who create raw, progressive, and genre-exploring grooves, combining global musical influences with a buffet of funk, psychedelia, jazz, and progressive rock. Known for their immersive and visually striking live shows, Slowmango have packed out dancefloors at WOMADelaide, Dark MOFO, Woodford Folk Festivals and many more, earning a devoted a cult following for their infectious grooves and unique flair.
Beyond touring and recording, Slowmango regularly deliver community engaged music and art workshops in remote communities around the country, sharing songwriting, performance, and multi-arts creative skills with participants.

WOMADelaide 2024
We performed at WOMADelaide in 2024, an internationally renowned arts festival showcasing the very best music and from every corner of the globe. We drew a huge crowd and our performance was a overwhelming success.
The Lab Residency 2021
Slowmango held a 10-show residency at The Lab in Adelaide throughout 2021 together with long-time collaborators The Bait Fridge, creating a series of unique immersive multi-arts performances rife with experimentation and audience participation.
Woodford Folk Festival 2025
Woodford is one of Australia’s largest music and arts festivals, attracting over 100,000 patrons over 7 days every year.

Selected Workshops
Yirrkala East Arnhem Live Songwriting & Performance Workshops 2025
In 2024 Slowmango travelled to the remote Arnhem Land community of Yirrkala in the Northern Territory to deliver a 2-week long series of songwriting, performance, and art making workshops together with the community. The resulting outcomes were performaed and displayed at the annual community music festival ‘Yarrapay’.

Gäṉgäṉ Community Songwriting and Music Video Workshops 2024
In 2023 Slowmango facilitated community-engaged songwriting and music video workshops with the remote Indigenous community of Gäṉgäṉ in Northeast Arnhem Land. The resulting song and music video involved participants of all ages, from as young as 4 to as old as 80. The lyrics and themes were written by school students and talks about the season Rarrandharr, a time of extreme heat and building humidity.

Gunbalanya Remote Community Art & Music Workshops 2021
Over two separate trips from Adelaide to West Arnhem Land, one in August and one in October 2021 Slowmango & The Bait Fridge ran a series of open art workshops at the local community centre.
Activities included screen printing on t shirts, tye die, mural painting, video, music and sound recording, a talent show and a disco.
To begin, the group collected discarded materials from the local dump and turned a Toyota Hilux into a a Croc Car (see above for ABC News feature!) to lead the Back To School parade - a parade encouraging school attendance.
